I have watched Sabine for years and have immense respect for her intellect, scientific knowledge and integrity, I wish there were more like her that would speak up.

Keep fighting against bad science and research.

Takes down video because she might have gotten something wrong, finds out she was right and it's far worse than she thought so savages it even more. GOLD!
I dub this the "Hossenfelder Effect", a scientific corollary of the Streisand Effect.

Thank you for calling this out. Whatever about the climate scientists, journalists have a lot to answer for. They are the first to call for "mis-information" and "fake news" to be censored but they readily propagate the unsubstantiated results of studies and surveys which confirm their own biases.

It’s fat vs sugar all over again. Science is being tainted by politics and money

I am here just to say that on the firt paper I did during my first month of Ph.D., I got a complain from my supervisor telling me "you should never use colors with semantics. there are color blind people and, more frequently, papers are printed in black and white anyway. don't make people rely on colors or they'll never accept your paper" .... and now we have papers with meaningful "light" and "dark" shades of orange?? I mean, wtf!

It's like back when they kept saying eggs are bad for your cholesterol, but then they then they were again....and then they weren't....and

I once dated a "climate model." ... She was hot, but then she gave me the cold shoulder.

Their incentive to make specific conclusions is stronger than their incentive to produce high quality research.

Don’t you apologize. You’re 100% correct to condemn their bad analysis

Bravery, integrity and clarity. A rare combination. For a non-science person this is so helpful. A 'scientific' paper which does not defines its standard of "statistically significant" is concerning. The 'shades of orange discussion' was well worth your time and aggravation. Thank you.

I used to work for a prominent Silicon Valley company on a newly established project. Our project manager sponsored a Stanford team to conduct a study validating that our idea was scientifically sound. The funny part is that the team leader promised to deliver the results exactly as we needed—even before conducting the study.

Good for you for pointing this out in first place, for retracting the video given a doubt, for reviewing and doubling down on your initial findings. Fantastic job!! What you're doing is actual science.

In America 35% of the population believes the earth is 6, 000 years old and 10% of us think the earth is flat. Every other scuffle with science seems very minor by comparison.

Years ago a police accident Investigator said that just before the collision. The car was traveling at 32.45mph. When cross examined on how he came to that number. The policeman said he used his police car to drive at 30mph. Slapped on the brakes and skidded down the same section of road. And measured both his and the other tyre skid marks. Divided the length of the skids by each other and multiplied by the speed. This gave a value of 32.45 mph. And when asked how accurate was this method was. He replied 100% because he used a calculator.

So many of us felt sorry for someone standing on a street corner holding a sign that proclaimed "The End Is Near"...but others figured out how to make a fine living with it.

Sabine has a too often ignored quality: integrity. This is one reason I trust her to accurately report science news, and correct that reporting should she find she was wrong. (Another reason is that she's seldom wrong!)

First question you should ask is...who funded that 'research' paper? Everyone has an agenda.
