The problem

The foam gasket that the third brake light comes attached to from factory disintegrates over time due to its poor structure. This allows water to enter through the gasket and into the boot, causing puddles of water on the boot floor.

Symptoms of the fault

Water leaking through the top of the tailgate, damp boot carpet, puddles of water in the boot.

Vehicles affected

Citroen C1 Mk1 2005-2014
Peugeot 107 MK1 2005-2014
Toyota Aygo MK1 2005-2014

Our solution

We have designed & created a new and improved high level brake light seal made of closed cell foam which is thicker than the OEM seal. It is also resistant to water to prevent leaks, and also reduces moisture & condensation entering the light unit and vehicle itself.

Our seal has a strong, adhesive backing so no messy glue is needed. This fix requires minimal tools and is easy to fit.

I just removed the old seal without breaking it, then put some high quality RTV into the channel and put the old seal back into its place. No more leaks.

This video was really helpful! Received the gasket this week and got it fixed quite easily.

Job done; according to Cyclone Cyd's instruction. Really good material. I recommend it honestly!

I would like to buy one of these to use on our C1 and also to make a review video for my channel (alongside my other C1 content and as an easier alternative to the currently favoured silicon sealer method). Where is the link to the product sale page❓

The gear stick ball in manual C1/107/Aygos get sloppy with age. Perhaps you could develop a fix or stronger part.

I know you can place screws around the socket to tighten up the ball joint. But that's kind of a bodge.

nothingmuch.

It's a good job these cars are so fun as the leaks are a complete pain in the dick. I had an 08 with no problems whatsoever but my 14 is non stop.

The notion of having to silicon seal the unit it, making it hard to take it out again seems odd...

Hello! Do you make this for a Peugeot 207? Did you ever experience a Peugeot 207 that leaks from the third brake light? My mechanic says that it's leaking from there, but I am not sure if a Peugeot 207 actually has a gasket with this light? Thank you for your video!
