BionicOpter: Mechanische Libelle von FESTO

Ein Festo-Mitarbeiter erläutert die Grundlagen der Steuerung der künstlichen Libelle BionicOpter.

Gerne hätte man Einblick in die Details der Mechanik. Die Libelle wird auch König der Lüfte genannt, weshalb dieser Forschungsweg wohl lange der interessanteste sein wird. Auch wenn die Reynoldszahl natürliche physikalische Grenzen setzt, dürfte nun allen Entwicklern klar sein, wie weit Sie noch von den Flugleistungen des natürlichen Vorbildes entfernt sind.
Der Abstand ist technisch praktisch nicht überbrückbar. Das Forschungsmodel ist sehr schön, und es verdient großen Respekt das Festo sich an die Libelle herangewagt hat.

Ornithopter sind geil, aber dieses Teil kann nicht zwischen Flatter und Gleitflug wechseln. Der Festo Bird konnte das. Mal einen bauen der aus dem Flatterflug punktgenau landen kann, das wär mal ne Herausforderung.

🟦 It is an intriguing design, however, it (like ALL Ornithopers) CANNOT be scaled-up to carry a person or ANY considerable cargo, and so use as a supply delivery vehicle is out of the question.
As far as use as a drone I don't know if the inherent design inefficiency will allow flight-times comparable to modern quads.
I do not speak the language of this video, so perhaps he mentioned statistics about the craft that I am unaware of.

not sure i understand the purpose. im an mechatronic engineer, and this is an ornithopter..a big one at that... is the plan to miniaturise?... if so, arent the flight mechanics very different at that scale?..wouldnt that make this demo a bit pointless?..does it use ideas that can be translated to small scale?.. it seems a bit of the same old same old to me.
