A year old but still a great video good sir - thank you. Just getting back into GT and i always procrastinate when going back online. I spend more time than perhaps I need, refreshing my memory of the tracks and then never actually get out on track! I just need to crack on and these tips will help a lot. Thanks again man.

Thanks for the small feature of me actually getting something right! 😃 and for yet another great guide!
I actually still find your original “How to race smart” video from some years back one of the most useful videos I’ve watched for a casual racer like me.
I try to stick to that long term approach every time I enter a Race C. Doing Race A is another thing though 😃

Watching all these older videos gives an appreciation on how long all you guys have been at it. I can get to B no problem but my times pretty much put me at the bottom of the barrel so after few races I get demoted. If you're in DR C/D/E and you follow this advice and you're not binning it you're guaranteed to place in top 10 most of the time. I like setting up that overtake on the corner. It seems obvious once you said it but I'm such a tool I've been letting of the throttle on straights to let that happen :D BTW I've been guilty of hitting the PIT wall on the entry on many tracks more than I'd like to admit.

Man this video helped me heaps! This week was a fuel saver on Race C and I saw this and went from the middle of a D rating to very close to a B rating in just a couple days! Thanks!👍👊

Just saw this video now, great advice. I just started paying attention to DR, went from D/S to D/B toC/S to today finally B/S. 600 races in. Have only won one race, but I start towards the back and move up with many of your tips.

I hate the pit exits that throw you over the line in auto drive.

Smashing video dude and all great, useful tips. Things people overlook for sure. I am still sometimes falling in the time trial trap you talk about in your last point.
However, I have learned to distinguish in my mind the TT I do where I'm learning/warming up to the combo, and the TT when I'm trying to hotlap and get every corner perfect.
I am racing more these days though. I'll often hop into a race just to see where I'm placed, only to find I'm higher than I thought I'd be. Nothing is better for getting faster and racing better though, than just racing!

First time I got up to A rank (in GT sport) I actually did so mainly just having decent clean races and maybe gaining a couple positions, if any at all. You certainly don't have to win to get the DR, and too often people act like that's the case

Good advice 👍 A few ones for me:
/For fuel saving short shift, it’s the best way, fuel maps rarely essential and can be a distraction.
/When racing, keep your eyes on markers/apexes = consistency. It’s very easy to start watching the car ahead/behind or time gaps = mistakes
/Don’t try to be the last of the late brakers. Brake a bit earlier esp. in races, get a better exit.
/If a move is not on, sit close, brake gently, save fuel/tyres, get good exits
/OP car may not be the best car for you (I can’t drive the Gr3 GTR 😂)
/Have a brake marker for pit exits. Gaining/holding a position at that stage of the race can make a big difference

Some great tips there mate. Some of which I've started using. Instead of diving straight into qualifying, Ive started going into qualifying time trial to practice the track using a ghost that's quicker than me. Since Sunday, in 6 races at Alsace and 4 at Road Atlanta, I've gone from D/A rating to B/S rated. That just 10 races. 3 wins & only 2 outside of top 5. Because I prepared. Great video mate. Thank you

Thanks again for the vid. I am a shocker for Track limit penalties, need to work on that!

Superb vid as always. Any tips on how yo handle the assholes who either keep nudging ur back corner? Or worse, the one who intentionally sit on ur back corner waiting for u to turn across them amd when u move away they follow u across the track so they're still on ur corner 🤔

I'm on 500+ race starts in GT7, similar in GT Sport and as many again in lobbies.
Never quit a race and had many 'doomed to last' turn into sneaky 7th with quitters and disasters to others.

Great tips but I think you have forgotten one. Bad / dirty drivers, how to spot them and maybe wait until they mess up rather than try an overtake and get punted off.

I hate chicanes, so usually go slow to avoid a spin out. Even if I run harder over them, seems to unsettle car. Hence 9:22, also cautious of such mistakes… and slip through for the advantage ;)

Dunno about the tips but I came out of this video with a huge urge to avenge William Wallace!

You made a good video womble and it looks like a lot of fun going from d to a rating if it wasnt for the punters, divebombers and the push to passers that also play this game and therefore ruin it in daily races.i think you should have mantioned it to.but thanks again for the usefull information.

Quick question when racing in G4 does increasing the size of the wheel from say 18 to 20 have an advantage say on a long straightaway??
