Less vocabulary does not means less thoughts.
Many people who born in their country, also died in there countries still have more IQ than an average person.
They don't speak multiple language. Still they were very popular.
I don't agree with you Bright side.

I wish there would be a global language that we could all use, besides our native languages and cultures, Now learning more languages wouldn't be a necessity but you'd do it out of pleasure

If everyone speaks the same one language, we would have less wars over miscommunications.

I have a degree in Linguistics. I love the channel! But this video has several misconceptions on how languages work. This should be seen merely as entertainment or science fiction, but very improbable scientifically. If you really want to know about the benefits of a neutral international language, read the articles of linguist Claude Piron about Esperanto - that’s based on studies and statistics.

Some misconceptions on this video:
- "A neutral international language would end up with jobs for teachers and translators." No, they would simply start teaching the new language (as the video has shown at a point, and then contradicted itself). We still need teachers and schools to help us develop our language skills in our mother tongue, the same would be true for a new language. What you see in reality is actually the opposite effect: people who speak Esperanto are even more interested in other cultures and almost all Esperanto speakers know at least 3 languages. In other words, more people interested in languages, more jobs for teachers and translators.
- "Everyone will speak the same way, with the same accent" - Impossible. Just travel a few miles from your town and notice how people use different words, grammar and accent. Even in the same community, groups of different ages, social classes, ethnicity, etc. speak differently. This is part of the study of Sociolinguistics. If you record yourself speaking, your brother, your grandmother and your mother, a sociolinguist will notice many differences and even identify your “tribe”. On a global scale, there isn’t the slightest possibility that people will all speak with the same accent.
- "A neutral international language would result in a cultural impoverishment for the world" - No. What impoverishes culture is linguistic imperialism (read Robert Phillipson's book "Linguistic Imperialism", Oxford Press). All major languages in the world have spread through an empire. It is the empire that has the power to suffocate other cultures. For example: an intellectual, scientist, artist, writer, etc. whose native language is English is much more likely to have his work recognized worldwide, even though he is quite mediocre, than a brilliant intellectual of a smaller language. The English language holds the monopoly of world culture. Even at an individual level, when competing for a job, native English speakers from the center of the empire have better chances. An easy to learn neutral language (which belongs to no nation, but to every nation) would make international communication more democratic. In other words: artists and intellectuals from all over the world would have a better chance of spreading their culture to the world.

Esperanto has not really reached its final goal. But it is the first most realistic attempt to break this historical pattern, to go against imperialist interests. For the first time in history, a language that was spoken by a single person is now spoken by millions of people in virtually every country without military, political or economic support ... it has spread across the world only with the power of the people who study it and teach it. It is still impressive ... maybe you could make a video about Esperanto! But please do your research beforehand! 😜
