Great tool i have had one since the early 1990s but Dewalt didn't make one yet. It was makita.

I bought a set at HarborFreight for $8.99 comes with 8 different sizes and always looks professional.

Only thing I hate about dewalt countersinks (especially in hardwood) is they are only good for about a week before they snap.

The Dewalt ones break on me. The drill bit is held in the hex base by epoxy, which can fail and send your drill flying out of your hand. I just use the regular style with a normal, non tapered drill bit and no hex base. The Dewalt ones are also very expensive.

This way, I can re-sharpen the countersink sleeve and sharpen, shorten, or replace the drill bit and get much more use out of a less expensive design.

The only downside is that you must use a drill with a chuck, preferably with carbide teeth in the chuck to grip the hard, round drill bit enough to cut the countersink without slipping when drilling many holes in hard wood. Not an issue for me, but preference is a personal thing.

Why would you use a tapered drill bit with a counter sink attachment?

You would actually use this when you plan ok covering up the screw by drilling a hole above the screw. Youd then put a dowel piece in and sand it. These bits make it easier to do all at once
