ALBERT CAMUS: A Slow Dance with the Absurd

Показать описание
In literary history, the Absurd has been regarded as something horrendous. Albert Camus, a prominent figure in the philosophy of existentialism and in absurdism, urged us to fight against the Absurd feeling (and the eerie sensation of nihilism) in his book "The Myth of Sisyphus".
This is an homage to him.

TRANSCRIPT OF VIDEO:
The Absurd permeates us all. It's subtle. A quiet hiss in the back of your head, a disconnect trailing you wherever you go. We tend to shy away from it in any way we can. We push people we love in front of it. Friends. Family. Partners.
Slowly, the Absurd grabs hold of our thoughts and rattles them around in our brains. In those moments, it's hard not to feel like a stranger in life.
It's not like the Absurd is a dropped bomb. There's no explosion, no mushroom cloud, no crying spectators. After all, it looks completely normal. It's just you, feeling like the loneliest person in the world.
And while it is unnerving that the Absurd feeling can strike wherever you are, I can't help thinking there's something beautiful to it. It's gracious. It's like a dance, but a certain kind of dance. It lacks the quick steps and attitude of the tango and it lacks the formality of the waltz.
The Absurd is more like a slow dance at a wedding, unfolding between meaning and indifference. Because that's where the Absurd lives. In juxtapositions.
So don't be afraid to slow dance with the Absurd. It's a beautiful act of rebellion.
This is an homage to him.
