What a masterpiece by Jeff Lynne. Anything Roy is involved with makes it even better.

Funny how this was ELO's first song, and it still holds up as one of the greats.

Quite possibly one of the most important rock songs of all time. It’s simply a stunning arrangement.

This song is a forgotten ELO classic. But it resurfaced nicely in the movie “ American Hustle. “

That step down guitar riff sends chills up my 55yr old spine. What an amazing creation. Oh how I wish the now-generation could embrace this masterpiece.

What a riff. You can feel it. Sounds like rock being excavated. Love it. We were so lucky. Born in 1970 and so very glad I was.

Absolutely stunning song - taking up where the Beatles left off with I am the Walrus indeed. So great to see Roy, Jeff and the gang together on a masterpiece.

There is over criticism from all around about ELO's first album being "overly ambitious" and "amateur", but they all have to start somewhere. And this was a damn good place to start. And I say this. True art comes from where the heart is at in a certain place or time. This is where Lynne and Wood were, and they were clearly inspired and had FUN. and the music came out inspired and FUN. I wish they ended up doing more stuff like this tbh.

Roy Wood sounds like he's playing the cello with a saw, and that's what makes it the best iteration of this classic, along with a class french horn player, and "the voice of an angel" What talent!

In 1972, I was 15 years old .When I first heard this I was astounded how bloomin amazingly stunning it was and still is .Saw Elo in 1978, at Stafford bingley hall, Stafford, u.k .They were OFF THE SCALE mind-blowing .Been a Elo fan for 49 years .My love for that line up, or the current one, NEVER has diminished .Jeff Lynne is an incredible, smart, but modest guy who is THE GOVERNER of his craft if songwriting and song production

Nearly 50 years and it STILL sounds as great as when it did when it was first released

John Lennon referred to them as The Sons of the Beatles. In other words, they were very highly thought of by very influencing people. A very important group to popular music.

I've only seen Richard Tandy on keyboards. Seeing him play bass on this song is wonderful. R.I.P. Richard. Thank you for some wonderful music.
