It's so perfect how we as the audience see Connolly like this high-school jock all cause we identify so much with Andrew. Connolly is actually a really nice guy who never gave us any reason to antagonise him!

Connolly seems like the clueless nice guy if you ask me.

He defended Andrew back in Nassau band (don't know if I spelled that right) he gives some type of reassurance to Andrew in this scene, and he doesn't seem to be offended on Andrew's "THAT SHIT" comment.

Despite being completely clueless, he never seemed like a bad person. The other drummer, Tanner, was a prick though.

"Not quite my tempo"
LOL major fucking understatement.

Absolutely love how he pops his head in like a Looney Tunes character at the “Am I late?” line 😂

He said 'Perfect.'

Fletcher, who says that the words 'good job, ' are damaging, said that Connolly was perfect.

Biggest tip off that he was just screwing with Andrew. Fletcher would never, ever say anything was perfect.

“Omg, are you serious? That shit?”

I’ve used that line 1, 000 times in my life.

I love how calmly he says his own name when answering the phone. It's just really funny to me for some reason. As if he's gonna demolish Andrew when he gets back.

This whole movie was a collection of the "best scenes in the movie".

Absolutely awesome.

Music is about embracing who you are, not losing your humanity. Don't replace soul with technique.

I feel bad for Connolly here. He’s genuinely being a nice dude and Andrew’s just an antisocial asshole to him for no real reason other than his own ego.
But also, the things Fletcher says later on tell he was just using him as a tool to motivate Andrew. Connolly seems like a decent drummer who plays to enjoy it and ends up getting used by a sociopath to motivate a narcissist.

I like how connolly uses neiman's sticks and later on into the movie, neiman asks to play with connolly's sticks as he left em behind in the car rental and fletcher asks him to get his

Brilliant scene, he does this deliberately to annoy Andrew and push him to be better. He knows he’s better than the other guy already.

The writing in this movie is masterful: Andrew asking Fletcher for another shot shows that he thinks he has developed enough of a "professional" relationship with him to ask for a few practice runs. Fletcher oh so subtley and painfully throws that assumption in the trash with very few words.

Bro that “oh my God” at 1:30 made me burst out laughing lmao

Fletcher definitely never thought he was better, just playing mind games to test how badly Andrew wanted the part

Fletcher clearly sees Connolly borrow Andrew's sticks here, but later in the movie tells Andrew he can't play unless he has his own sticks when Andrew asks to borrow a pair from someone else.

"He's more bark than bite"

cut to Fletcher hurling a chair at Andrew's head at mach 3 speed.
