I was obsessed with Fitzgerald from 15-18, reading everything he wrote as well as everything I could find about him. I wish I could read them for the first time. I’m 61, and would understand them differently. Fitzgerald had a sad life that ended too soon. Alcohol destroyed him as it did Anthony. Great analysis! Thank you.

This is a great channel. Especially for those of us who lived that era during one of our pervious lifetimes.

I remember asking my grandmother about these books when they were released in the 20’s. She thought he told a great story. Apparently, these books were looked forward to and she had some great things to say about The Great Gatsby.

I notice in a lot of silent movies, how quick everyone was to marry back then. It boggles my mind! They didn't even really know each other yet and off they went to get married! The book reflected the movies. The relationships seemed so shallow.

The problem is the title that suggests a dark and tragic story. It's actually a satire about its time.

Is it me or was that story very shallow ? I doubt the lost generation was like those people in the story.

I always wondered if this was satire for the time.
