January 29 marks Chinese New Year. In previous years, this time of year would see streets and alleys brightly decorated, filled with festive cheer. Families would be busy putting up Spring Festival couplets, hanging lanterns, and stocking up on holiday goods. Shopping malls would be packed with crowds, and dazzling promotions were everywhere. Children were brimming with excitement, eagerly anticipating red envelopes and new clothes. Adults spent their time visiting relatives and friends, exchanging New Year blessings. The lively scenes were filled with a rich festive atmosphere.

The Chinese people know who created this situation,
but they are too scared to say anything.

When even the barbers can't find work before the new years, you know it's bad

It's the same world wide. Our greedy governments don't care about the prosperity of their citizens, just the rich. Time for changes.

It was always so clear cut to me when everyone is quoting that real estate was 25% of GDP and 70% of household wealth.
When new home sales started to downtrend by over -20%, I was like whoa. Then, it slid like that for 2 solid years (with a reopening bump).

It is sad to be glad, but it is the ccp's fault.

Does this lack of activity have anything to do with other videos I've seen showing lots of people & their kids in hospitals?
Or does this lack of activity have anything to do with other videos I've seen showing lots of people not being paid their wages for months? That would kind of explain why no one is out and about spending money on stuff nobody really needs.

Blame it all on the person at the top mismanagement and destroys his own country.

I certainly sympathize for the Chinese people. I believe you would be in a much better economic position if your government hadn't decided to lay claim to the South China Sea and other territories.

This would be more believable if the narrator could pronounce 'Guangzhou' correctly. Was this video showing scenes during lockdown? I've just watched a live video made 10 minutes ago, showing crowded streets and shopping malls in Beijing Lu, business as usual. Any places looking derelict are usually scheduled to be pulled down and new malls created. I was there recently and everything looked prosperous and I'll be going back in a couple of months. Guangzhou still hosts the country's largest annual Trade Fair. next one due in April 2025.
