Receiving Week 1

The transition from civilian to recruit begins on the yellow footprints at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, and it takes 13 weeks to transform a recruit into a United States Marine. This is the first step of the recruit process, and thousands enlist every year to have the chance to earn the title and become one of the few and proud.

My boyfriend is currently going through receiving week at MCRD in San Diego, so glad I can watch these videos and see his journey of becoming a Marine, so proud of him.

I am so grateful to these young men, and women, who volunteer in peacetime to become part of the worlds fierest fighting force, but I still don't understand! Why do you volunteer when you know it is going to be the hardest thing you have ever done, your future is not a cushy job somewhere doing just the things you want to do, and you may find yourself in the middle of hell, fighting a war with death all around you?
As I said before, I don't understand, but you all have my sincere graritude and admirarion! THANK YOU ALL!
