Fix Stray Not Launching, Crash to desktop (CTD), Fatal Error, The UE4-Hk_project Game has crashed,
LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 258],EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION & Black Screen & Freezing Issue On PC
Step 1) Restart computer
Step 2) Put -d3d11 or -dx11 or -dx12 in the launch options
Step 3) Launch Oculus app
Step 4) Windows 7 users
Copy all the files present from x64 folder and paste the files in this location
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stray\Hk_project\Binaries\Win64
Step 5) Do a clean installation of graphics driver
Step 6) Delete the save game files (You will lose the game progress)
Step 7) Allow the game exe file to your antivirus program/Windows Security and Firewall
Step 8) Run the game on dedicated graphics card
Step 9) Verify the game files
Step 10) Run the game as an administrator
Step 11) Disable Steam Overlay, close all the overlay apps, Close all the overclocking application, perform Cleanboot
Step 13) Update your Windows
Step 15) Lower down graphics settings and disable V sync
Step 16) Uninstall and reinstall the game to the different drive (Try SSD first)

The game is not supported on Windows 7, so Windows 10/11 users do not try Step 4, Windows 7 users can try step 4 but the workaround is not guaranteed.

You're so cool! thank you, copying all files to the folder "Hk_project\Binaries\Win64" from the archive helped me. I have windows 10, but the advice from windows 7 helped me 👌

Personally I love it when the game I paid for dosen't work by itself and I have to do a bunch of extra shit just to open it
Edit: By the way everyone! If you have under 2 hrs on a Steam game you can get a refund on it, so if you can't get it working, I'd recommend that

Just wanted to leave this here in case anyone with this issue stumbles across it...

I tried literally everything everyone said to do to fix this problem and the only thing that fixed it for me was switching from using DP to HDMI. It runs perfectly now.

I dont understand when there is a new game on steam. There is always these unknown issues where we got to search up these solutions that no one can never figure out on there own unless we get lucky & find a vid with the perfect solution. This can potentially hurt the reviews on steam games if they dont have a fix on games before launch. Yes we can fix it ourselves but alot of ppl are not computer, tech or code savvy when it comes to this.

I have windows 8.1 and i thought that it was compatible with it but the "window 7" workaround worked for me which was giving me the lowlevel fatal error before

I downloaded Choo Choo Charles about an hour ago and have spent more time trying to fix the crash problem than I have in the actual game, apparently, the binaries and win64 folders were in a folder labeled obscure so if you don't see a folder labeled as said in the video look everywhere it will be somewhere
