The Global Education Fund for Excellence at HACC

My name is Jennifer Daley and I'm the International Student Coordinator here at HACC. I work in our Center for Global Education and I've been advising our international students for over 15 years now. The Global Education Fund for Excellence will help us to implement key strategic initiatives to help with international student integration into the community, international student success. One of the initiatives we'd like to implement is a mentoring and leadership program, which will help them feel connected to the college and we've seen that a sense of belonging makes a major impact on student success. And we see the impact as threefold. One, it provides programming to support our international student success. And two, facilitates the interaction between our local resident students and international students to help build cultural awareness and communication skills and global competencies that are essential in today's market. And then three, our international students bring a great economic benefit to the region. So, their impact is calculated at $5.7 million to HACC students themselves bring to the Harrisburg community and they support 35 jobs.
