The Philippines should l not agree to ask permission from China to resupply BRP Sierra Madre, which is tantamount to accepting it as China's territory. Ayungin shoal is within EEZ where the Philippines has sovereign rights. China's nine-dash line claim was already invalidated by UNCLOS arbitration court.

The Philippines is boosting its defense capability, but alone cannot push back China's belligerent expansion . It needs allies; US, Japan and other like-minded countries.

It could be wiser for the Philippines to accept US' help in resupply missions to BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin shoal
and
jointly patrol the West Philippine Sea with US, Japan and other like-minded countries to uphold the rule of law and freedom of navigation.
