The part where she opens the door and hears the children playing, the birds chirping, sun shining on her face is so relatable if you’ve ever lost someone cause it’s like you can’t comprehend how the rest of the world just keeps going

Sarah's acting in this scene is phenomenal...

When she says mommy, my heart breaks every time.

I loved that they added the "mommy" line. I always heard people say, that no matter how old you are when you lose a parent, you realize that you are still just a kid.

the fact it just... happens. No fantasty. No vampires. This is real life and people go through it every day. What a masterful show Buffy was. To[ brilliantly go between stuff of pure fictional terror to the tragedies of living.

This episode helped me get through my mom's passing. I actually wrote a letter to the lady who plays Joyce and she sent one back. This is hard to watch but it's reality and it's actually a useful form of therapy.

The look on her face after she says "the body" at the end is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen an actor do...

"Shes cold, should I make her warm?" My god... she delivers this line with so much. You feel her character being brought back to an innocent naive child and scared and lost. Sarah did a fucking fantastic job with this, absolutely outstanding performance here

I think my favorite part of this scene is Giles. He sees Joyce on the floor he immediately runs to try and help her and once Buffy says "The Body" he immediately knows what's happened and rushes to comfort Buffy. It really highlights how much they care for each other and how Giles is by all accounts Buffy's father.

Just the choice to kill her off this way was brilliant. It would have been so easy to have her murdered by a main antagonist as an act of revenge or just to torture Buffy, but they went for a realistic approach in a surprising contrast to the show’s… well, fantasy elements.

Just watched this for the first time last night. No doubt one of the best episodes of TV I’ve ever seen. The fact that Sarah Michelle Gellar wasn’t drowned in awards for this is infuriating

I have never seen it depicted so perfectly. I found my dad and even though something tragic and traumatic just happened, the world continued still. Her opening the door and hearing the children is like a salt in the wound for such a bleak time, but the world continues still. Even as you're trying to make sense of what is happening, why it's happening, why you, why now. The world continues still.

What makes this scene even better (beside the acting and chills) is that there is no music what so ever. It's just imitates life perfectly.

The part that gets me is when she goes to the back door and stares outside for a few seconds. the birds tweeting and the noise of people and life carrying on as normal when your whole life feels like it’s fallen apart is the most surreal feeling yet the most normal situation.

The horror/shock in her face after she realised what she just said after saying "we not supposed to move the body" just shows you how much of a good actress she is

"We're not supposed to move the body..." chills. To this day I still get chills from the look Buffy gives when it dawns on her what she just said.

This whole scene is gut-wrenching, but the part where Buffy vomits and goes to leave or to get some air, but then goes back to clean up the vomit is so poignant to me. I think it’s that moment that she realizes she can’t just leave it there because no one will clean up after her. She has to be the one keeping everything together at home now, and god it’s so heartbreaking to see her simultaneously trying to reconcile her grief with that responsibility.

It's truly one of the hardest feelings in the world to find the dead body of someone you care about. And Sara really nailed when some people go into shock and then either panic or are completely shut down. People don't always just cry and scream. Sometimes it's just a surge of adrenaline, panic, and not knowing what to do. And then bam! All the emotion comes to you once It sinks in.
I also liked how she slowly walked around while completely zoned out. Because, yeah, it's not always a big dramatic scene when someone dies.
This scene is also one of the most realistic to my own experiences. This was one of the best episodes.

When she says I lose it everytime. She goes from such an adult like state all they way back to a child worried about their mother. Heartbreaking yet unbelievable performance by everyone involved. 💔
