Here is the problem of restructuring debt. If your citizens aren't educated enough, it is hard to safeguard the use of that money to repair the country.

The IMF will just print $2.9 billion out of thin air and Sri Lanka will have to pay back with real assets.

Dont be too happy Sri Lankans. Its one thing to have the money. Its another to know what to do with it and who will be in control of it. Be careful and keep a close eye.

$2.6 billions bailout by IMF for a country gdp of $80 billions economy. is it enough? is it worth with all the economic hardships IMF impose on irestructured the plan for Sri Lanka? think twice before accepts the deal. IMF bail out is never good. it has more short term, long term fallouts that it helps!

The issue is no money is given by west or India to increase producticty. Money is just to spend on day to day essentials only, so that money goes back to where it came from + paying the debt back with interest. Eventually Sri Lanka gets no benefit It's a trap. At least China lent money 10 years ago to increase productivity/infrastructure that lead to increase in tourism.

China forced Shri Lanka to handover the harbor during 99 years and use of 5000 Hectares of ground. India is lookong at submarines from an ennemy contry very close.

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank are dollar imperialistic institutions. This is a debt trap. Sri Lanka should rather depend on humanitarian aid and economical assistance from India.
