So, now that the game released, it's obvious why Kan included the little guitar part in the beginning, and he's amazing for doing this; it's obvious that there's only three instruments here, piano, cello, and guitar. I'm sure you can piece it together already if you've played the game, but the piano represents Sofia, the cello represents Colin, and the guitar represents Faye–although Faye's role only lasted a while both in Colin's life and this song, it's very meaningful, because to me, if this song didn't have that small guitar part, it wouldn't be as strong.

Though it could just be a coincidence, I'd like to think that Kan already hinted at Faye's existence even when we only had A Bird Story.
