The RPM variation could be caused by a couple of things. 1) There's not enough reserve power in the battery. Give it a good charge before using it. 2) That 5 in 1 bit is designed to operate at a higher RPM. At low speeds that bit could skip, grab your skin & cut your hand. Running at higher RPM you won't need to apply much pressure so you'll have better control & it puts less torque (strain) on the motor. Best wishes!
