Ftr, it's pronounced "lapp-hund", as in a hound of Lappland.

Despite being a Finnish breed, the name is Swedish. In Finland they're called "lapinkoira".

Those are dogs that are bred to stay outdoors all year, and will go against anything from bears to moose. Very family oriented. And very smart. They are in the spitz family, like the Japanese spitzes. But like all spitzes, they NEED to use their brains to thrive.
