Basic Off Road Tips for Beginners in a Bone Stock Jeep Wrangler JL 2 Door Sport plus Rock Crawling

People new to Jeeps and or to off roading in general have been asking Cindy and I to make a video highlighting the some of the basics, tips and tricks that every newbie should know and for quite some time now. And, I have to say that we've been reluctant to do so if only because we know that we're not professionals or experts in anything and understand full well that the way we choose to do things isn't necessarily the right way, the best way or the only way. With that said, we finally got a chance to take Pippi, our bone stock, Jeep Wrangler JL 2-door Sport and with a stick, out on a trail known as Last Chance Canyon and to test her out on some rocks. And, while we were there, we decided to use the opportunity to film some of the things that we've learned over the years and share them with you. Things like, airing down your tires, disconnecting your front sway bar links, shifting into low range and picking a good line. Of course, the only thing we would ever hope for, is that the information you see might be of help to you someday.

Oh, as an added bonus, you'll also get to see JET testing out his new 38" Nitto Ridge Grapplers out on the rocks. We hope you enjoy.

Seriously, there isn't enough content around like this - what a stock base model can do, and how to do it. Everything is Rubicon's and built up rigs. Thanks for this. It really is going to help a lot of folks just getting started in the wheeling world.

On behalf of all two door, stock, JL owners everywhere, thank you for posting such inspirational and fabulous content!

Thank you for making videos like this. Not all of us have the budget for built rigs. Truly appreciate it.

Refreshing to see a stock Jeep wheel; Its way more interesting to watch the skills of the driver than some built out rig. Great video!

Thanks for taking Pippi over the tough sections too. Not being afraid to bang a rail and scrape those wheels! and, most importantly, not embarrassed to show all the times you dropped the clutch! real people doing real things

Just shows you don’t need to break the bank to get out and have fun. Love the contrast between the two Rigs 👍

It’s so easy to get caught up watching videos with beefed up rigs that it’s a breath of fresh air to see y’all doing these videos in a stock Jeep. It’s all about fun as you have shown. Thanks again and keep them coming.

Just wow! First time I see a stock JL sport (even street tires seems like it) wheeling on YouTube. I’m impressed, but mostly the skills of the driver 👏🏻👏🏻

you are by far my I couldn't stop smiling the entire video. You my friend are hard core. I have ALWAYS driven JEEPs my whole life. But this was the coolest, to see a stock JEEP go through what it did. Amazing.

You know man. When you said in the end you’re not expert, this is a solid proof how much humble and genuine you’re. You’re making one of the best content in YouTube but you still saying you’re not expert. Too much respect for you. Thanks for the hard work and great content. 👍

Man - thank you SO MUCH for this video. I've been thinking about exactly that model - the cheapest Wrangler I could buy. This video is by far the best I've seen at what it's capable of in stock configuration - and it's amazing! Holy crap that thing can climb, considering it's 100% stock and the cheapest model.

20 years ago we drove the “Big Jeep”. Long arm suspension, 35” tire, lockers and low gears. After awhile the fun and challenge of off roading lost its luster. When I stepped into my buddies Manuel TJ Sport on 31/10.5 15”s I had more fun on small simple obstacles than driving the Hammers on my built rig. It’s nice to be able to take the built rig out without limitations, but it’s also enjoyable to go explore and test yourself with the simple things. Thank you for the video brings back a lot of great memories.

What a great video. To see a stock two door with literal street tires off road so well. Inspirational.

Thank you. I've been wheeling for over 50 years; know all about doing it with manuals and no lockers. Your video economically demonstrates 100% of what must be considered for safe and fun wheeling. Excellent advice and superb attitude. Love the Rubicon demo without ever saying a thing about it. I greatly respect your skill and attitude dealing with minimalism. Moreover, that base Wrangler can be built up, but starting out with a Rubicon is the most economical way to do it. Enjoyed.

I never ever ever comment on videos, ever. Gotta say you are the man! This is a clear example of how capable a stock Jeep really is. That stock Jeep did the same line as that rubi and handled it. Bravo for making this

The best driving I’ve seen on YouTube. You’re a beast man. Thanks for this video. As you can tell from the comments everyone appreciates it.

Wow it’s just much more fun to watch a stock jeep on trail vs a heavily mod Jeep.

This is actually real off roading. And this is proper skill. Shows it can be done with a stock jeep if you know how to do it
