Excellent advice and perfectly valid. My rule is, EQ first if there are serious EQ problems, compressor first otherwise. In other words, if the EQ is repair EQ, do it first. Compressing a peaky response will only exacerbate it. Same exact rationale with a slightly different explanation. Believe this guy, this is truth.

yes...good advice...but one other thing: Regardless of order, DO NOT overuse either too drastically. Less almost always sounds better.
