Yea one of ultra-brutal's modifiers is that the death fleet has some budget cuts xD I knew he was gonna be disappointed when he mentioned wanting to see the fleet.

Grant has serious tunnel vision when it comes to words, 'Amulet', 'Death fleet budget cuts', but when it comes to everything else, he's golden.

"thich thigh templar" gives a whole new meaning to "thunder thighs"

Durability per dollar (DPD) gets a little tricky to calculate because of Protoss Ground armor, but for the basics, 2 cannons are 600hp and 3 zealots are 450hp

I remember stumbling on a red alert 2 flipped mission which was such a cool idea, I then wondered if the same exists for SC2 and here I'm.

smash and grab is very much like the final mission in a very oldschool rts, where you have to holdout and fight against two opposing enemy factions on multiple fronts. It's a genius mission when it's flipped, wish the super unique LOTV missions were more like this.

You’d think grant, as a Protoss player in WoL, would know khaydarin amulet when he sees it

I liked the worry about Raynor potentially getting Siege Tanks, and everyone in the chat mentioning how and why that would be.
Granted the tanks are from a later artifact mission, but I played WoL a couple times deliberately taking a weirder order of missions where I did all the artifact missions last. Your worries should be on Jimmy massing Thors.

Impractical as it is with the solo gas, it was funny to me to go rampaging on this mission with them.

Anyone else weirded out by the fact that despite losing Jimmy is still going forward like his objectives have been succeeding?

On the topic of doing math, since the benefit of Armor scales linearly with the quantity of incoming attacks, the Effective Health of a unit or structure in sc2 will vary depending on how much each individual incoming attack is dealing. Since 'Total Damage = (Damage per Attack - Armor) * Number of attacks', a little bit of algebra can give us the total number of attacks needed for two units to intersect with 'Unit1 HP-Unit2 HP = (Unit2 Armor-Unit1 Armor) * Number of Attacks'.

(this is ultimately just a fancy way of saying a unit gets 1 effective hp per unit of Armor each time it's attacked, which is fairly intuitive)

The math gets a little more bloated with protoss since Shields can cause units to have different armor values for different parts of their health pools, but long story short in our situation it breaks down to our trio of zealots needing to tank in the ballpark of 150 attacks total to be more cost effective than our duo of photon canons, for a total damage per attack of less than 5. So the zealots are more effective against zergling and unupgraded marines, but canons win against most anything else.

Note that this is only for the specific case of having exactly 2 Sheild and 2 Armor upgrades (for a total of 2/1 defence on the cannon and 2/3 on the zealots) With more armor or less shields, the numbers can swing wildly since the zealots are mostly hull. As it is, the difference in armor is barely noticeable, since the canons have almost as much Shield HP as the Zealots have in total.

So now we know that Grant doesn't hate defense missions necessarily, just sitting around doing nothing. Which an improperly-balanced defense mission can often lead to. Probably why he has less of an issue with big finales like All In than Zero Hour; more options. more pressure, more actually doing things. Even fighting defensively is still space warfare shooty stuff that we love, folks.

the kindergarten animation should be called "Stars 'n Crafts" and the logo should be a bunch of gold star stickers on kid drawings of SC2 units

Have you considered doing CNC red alert deathless? I tried it and it seems possible
