After the anti-India rhetoric, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu made surprising statements. The Maldives seemingly toned it down and called India a close ally. The Maldives also sought financial aid from India.
"This seems like just the beginning. When a new leader assumes power, it takes time to understand ground realities. The depth and spread of India-Maldives are such," said the ex-envoy to the Maldives, Dnyaneshwar Mulay. Watch In!

Classic case of Al Taqia, never give any relief to islamic state of maldives, let them reform and become a secular society first before asking for any humanitarian help from others.

Just by his seeking financial aim, it doesn't mean he has soften his stance of religious fanaticism because he'll use that same aid to bruise India. For them the end justify the means.

India must not do any concession till he is in power. People of Maldives may innocent but they choose this fellow thus they must get its interest

India doesn't have money trees.
What our government lends is our hard-earned tax money.
So, pay our government with interest as agreed, without a single dollar pending. Don't you feel ashamed to hold our money after you claimed that we bullied you?
You happily take money from us, but when it's time to return it, do you need debt relief?
What a double standard! Shameless behavior.

He is a classic traitor, a wolf in a sheep’s disguise. India 🇮🇳 should put such politicians in their place. You don’t bite the hand which feeds you . 😠

Tell Maldives India wants to get out of Maldives lock stock and barrels i.e. along with helicopters given to them and along with the loaned amount.. In any case Per capita GDP of Maldives is far too high. Why should they want financial help from poor poor people of India ? Indian govt should realise that it is better to help it's own poor people than earning useless goodwill from neighbours. Ghar ke bachchon ko bhookha nanga rakh ke padosiyon ko kyon khana dete ho?

Muizzu is only preparing ground with guidance from China that Maldives will not be able to pay back the loan so India should somehow let it go. No any pro India stance.

Maisu, is not the issue, Maldives is the issue. Maldives so acting as a traitor, threatening India, using China as a shield, so India should act as requiredby Maldives

It's still unknown why Mr Muizzu is so desperately requesting India to give them a bailout instead of China. It's an act of double standard Muizzu has adopted.

The GOI should seek public opinion on the matter of debt relief. let the people’s verdict decide whether Maldives deserves debt relief.
