Mesa is actually a nice looking biome for me, but if you spawn there, it will be kinda hard to make it

you could use Glazed teracotta. Gold is also abundant in mesa.

I'm actually shocked when I learned people hate this biome. I find it unique and interesting. Always wanted to build in it. Even more now that we have Azalea leaves and moss.

You can also get wood from surface mineshafts, which only generate in badlands
