Conservatives suffer huge losses in local elections

By any measure it's been a grim day for the Conservatives - they lost the by-election for an MP in Blackpool South thanks to a massive swing to Labour, they're on track to lose around half of the local election council seats they contested and their projected national vote share is down to a dismal 25%.

With so many losses, Rishi Sunak has described the night as 'disappointing'. But he’s sure voters will stick with the Tories come the general election.

The conservative members arrogance is out of this world.

The darker side of the story is now the Tories' inevitable move further to the Right, taking the whole gamut with them. Their policies will become yet more cruel. Yes, they're not nasty enough for millions of Brits.

What a country this has become.

Who are all the lunatics in Tees Valley who think Tories are doing a great job?.?

I love how all Tory MPs are trained to mention the war in Ukraine and covid when discussing the challenges the country faces while sidestepping the elephant in the room.

General Election when? Sooner is better for the Country, if not the Party.

UK politics is locked in the Labour/Tory duopoly. Only a different electoral system can change that.

Mel Stride, the genius who announced that mental health is not worth the government's time before these elections. Never seen such political suicide.

I think it's worse for the tories than it looks!

Funny as fck how the Teeside Mayor tried to distance himself from the tories as much as he could, won and then Sunak turns up to celebrate 😂 😂 😂

I voted for Labour, I will do it again in January 2025. Not because I love Labour, but because I'm sick of Conservatives.

Awful as the situation is in Gaza, and disgusted as I am by the Netanyahu regime, why on Earth is it having such an influence on domestic UK politics? Surely we should focus on sorting out our Tory-inflicted problems as a priority.

Why do news programs give Reform UK members so much airtime when their vote percentage clearly doesn't warrant it?

Covid and the War. We're the only country that has to face the fallout of these... Clearly. Let's forget we're the only ones that had Brexit. Deluded Tories.

Ben Houchen distanced himself as much as possible from the Tories, he even omitted blue from his campaign. That's why he managed to win. I even heard there are people from that area that didn't even realise he was a Tory and lets not forget Reform stood down there. Bet they don't win that seat in the GE.

I don't know how much clearer a message can be sent to the Tories, people are not happy with them and want a general election now!
