A nice little tip for finding what region of Spain you're in.

Another thing to add onto that: If the sign is blue and has either the letter A alone or the letters AP then it's a highway and you need further information to pinpoint the location. If the sign is red and the letter is an N then it's a Nacional, or national highway. If the sign is green/orange/yellow then you are generally in a provincial road, meaning that the letter does not apply, and you need to search the province code, not including the last letter if it's a V or a P.
