For this we can also say that n factorial os to arrange n objects, so 0! means arranging 0 objects, in only one way

n!= (n+1)!/(n+1) put n = 0 which gives 0!=1

I think the relation (n-1)! = n! / n should not be true for n-1 = 0, as 0 is a different kind of number.

Like for every number x other than zero, x/x = 1 but for x = 0 it is not defined therefore the above relation should also be not defined for n-1 = 0.

Here's the alternate proof
5! = 5×4×3×2×1
Dividing by 5 we get 4!

4! = 4×3×2×1
Dividing by 4 we get 3!

3! = 3×2×1
Dividing by 3 we get 2!

2! = 2×1
Dividing by 2 we get 1!

1! = 1
Dividing by 1 we get 0!
1!/1 = 1
So 0! = 1
