Utah vice principal saves student's life, days after taking CPR class

An amazing rescue caught on camera after a 9th grader collapses to the ground during a gym class at West Jordan Middle School. It's a scene that could have ended in tragedy, if not for the quick actions of school administrators who rushed to his aid.

It is really disturbing to see so many people pass that child who was clearly in distress without making any attempt to enquire or assist him. Great that there was a positive outcome, but that appears to be despite of and not because of the response of the students and teachers there at the point of collapse. Pretty sobering stuff.

I'm furious at how slowly that PE teacher moved to get to a child that was clearly in distress. He wasn't even in the gym when it happened. What the actual hell.

Everyone walked so slowly to his aid. As a Security officer at a school, who knows CPR and how to use a defib, we would all be running.

I am so glad this kid is alive! I still lost hope looking at everyone ignoring this poor child. Our future is doomed! I can't believe these people can just ignore or watch without helping. Lord, help us! This is so painful to watch!

This was NOT quick and NOT even close to a best case scenario. All those people looking and walking by? Talk to your kids intervene if they think something is wrong with somebody, and get help if they don’t feel comfortable.

wtf! I understand kids are kids, I was in the same situation when a girl collapsed behind me during choir but when she wasn't moving after telling her to get up I got scared and tried to help her. She passed out - nothing this major but didn't the kids care that he fell and obviously couldnt move? 1 whole min to get someone?

Unbelievable I don’t know how anyone could walk past someone who collapsed on the floor without at least asking if they were ok, let alone the Teacher/coach.
