China Major Bridge Engineering Limited, which built the bridge after winning the contract from an open tender, is a Chinese state owned company. Padma bridge by far is the longest bridge built by a Chinese company outside China. As a Bangladeshi I see no problem for China taking credit for building this extremely challenging and complicated engineering structure.

China surely has contributed while India(kolkata baboos in particular composed of the RAW agents, some of whom were caught red handed ...) tried to sabotage the project as it (India) routinely either stall ongoing projects in Bangladesh or kill them at the bud. Funding was 100% Bangladesh's own. Bangladesh decided to implement the unique design created by a reputed NZ Firm. Since technical know how was not readily available in Bangladesh, China Major Bridge Construction Company- a public enterprise- came forward to provide technical know how and construct it as well. Bangladesh engineers, however, ensured that no technical fault emerges in building the Bridge by engaging internationally reputed technical people from Europe mainly England. Chinese company did the river training work as well costing over 1 billion dollars.
This Bridge is a two storied structure. While road part on the upper deck has been opened to traffic, the railway part in the lower deck is not. It will be completed by another two years time as new railway line of 169km is being built to connect Jessore with Dhaka through the Padma Bridge. While the road part( $3.78 billion) is funded by Bangladesh, the railway part costing over $4 billion is totally funded by China. This fortifies the claim that China's contribution in building this mega project is immense. This reporter cannot even pronounce Bangladesh properly. She pretends to be a reporter.Can I ask a question to this horribly partisan reporter? What goats have to do with Padma Bridge!! In Bangladesh, there is a proverb, and I quote, " chagole ki na khay, pagole ki na koy" meaning " ... goats can eat anything while mad people can also say anything".

If an engineer does not claim credit or feel proud of the work he designed and built, the client should seriously concern over quality of the work.

China did not claim to finance it. But it is undeniable that Chinese engineers actually did the engineering design and construction (supervising and training local labour ). India just had to swallow its pride instead of trying to block others and demonizing China as a sour loser. Just for the information, this bridge is the second long bridge that was build by Chinese engineering. The other is the Hong Kong - Macau - Zhuhai bridge. China does have the skill in building bridges.
As Elon Musk said .. When you spend your time trying to block others instead of improving yourself you already have lost.

Bangladesh got a loan of US$1.5 billion for the project from China. Also the bridge was built with the huge technology support from China. Many western companies were interested in the project, but all of them gave up due the difficulties. China is happy to see the development in Bangladesh. The cooperation between China and S Aisan countries, such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal will benefit the people of these countries.
