That quick little section through the chaparral tunnel took me back to the 1960s. I lived in Sylmar, CA. There was a deer trail on the Macklay canyon side of the ridge between Macklay and Lopez canyons. LOTS of chaparral tunnels. Some tunnels were a couple hundred yards long. Old chaparral was 20+ feet high. Real flowy. Lots of jumps. Like it was created by mountain bikers 20 years before the genre was "officially" created. I rode my own version of what the guys up north later "invented". A hand-me-down Schwinn 26" Medium Weight Cruiser. I stripped off the banged up fenders, chain guard and rack. Replaced the flat tires with the then brand new knobby treads and heavy duty innertubes. I immediately replaced the longhorn steer handle bars with a 5" rise narrower handlebar from a cheap imitation Stingray that was lower profile than the real Schwinn ones. Later, when I crashed in Honda Hills (next to I-5/405 interchange) above my house and took out 1/2 the rear spokes, I had Valley Schwinn replace the skid brake hub with a 5 speed derailer and add front and rear center pull brakes. Lot of money for a kid financing it by recycling glass soda and beer bottles at 3 cents/bottle. Everybody else thought I was goofy as they all rode Stingrays like my brother's. But nobody could keep up with me coming down the rabbit trails and they soon gave up trying. Lots of fun on that old Schwinn. The flowy stuff under the chaparral is still some of the best. Downhill single-track forever! 😃😎

Wow, that takes a lot of focus and skill. I used to ride a lot in my younger years. I wiped out really bad twice going way to fast and came out extremely lucky. I figured third time was a charm so now I pleasure ride mainly. You have lots of skill and great videos! Be safe : )

Lol I live here. It’s cool that you got to do this during our flower super bloom. 90% of the time those hills are brown.

Excellent ride. Videos of california like this makes me realise how small boston actually is. That whole view is amazing 360 degrees around

I take this trail about once a week. Check out the San Juan Capistrano trails by the flag pole on the hills. If you know the area then you know what I’m talking about. I’ll be back at the trail today to collect and relocate rattlesnakes!

I'm in Dana Point, you should try out the trails at Crystal Cove! Gotta love that mustard.

I only know you from the front tire. Don't know why I'm seeing biking videos. But you are my faves. That's awesome

That’s crazy that’s my hometown. Is that trail behind or near a target. Because I think know exactly were that is.
