I don't doubt that Kafka is cool technology that enables new ways of building systems. However, you conflated databases with monoliths and nightly batch processing. The are plenty of ways that databases are used that are not monolithic and without nightly batch processing. I think you are misleading your viewers by implying that to get away from monoliths and nightly batch processing that you have to get away from using databases.
