I make these all the time in a large container and keep the batter a few days in the fridge for fresh "tortillas" every evening. Two tips- chickpea flour batters are always better if you let them sit in the fridge a few hour or overnight, and use garlic paste, not powder so the bread will be much softer with the same great flavor. I use them as wraps all the time with no issue.

1. 1C chickpea four +1/2C tapioka flour+1/3 t salt+ 1C water+ (little garlic paste or powder, onion powder, or smoked paprika)
2. use garlic paste, not powder so the bread will be much softer with the same great flavor (good for wraps)
3. chickpea flour batters are always better if you let them sit in the fridge a few hour or overnight,
4. low heat for more flexiblility (high heat for crepe style);
you can also stack them on a plate (or leave them for a bit in the skillet with a lid on), and they will soften because of the steam (if that makes sensse)

We call these besan cheela in India. They are a popular breakfast. Sometimes we add small greens into the batter as well like green onions, chillies, some leafies etc. and serve with a chutney.

Just found your video which I loved 😍 I am so glad you liked my recipe! I also love adding garlic powder or onion powder. Smoked paprika also adds a nice flavor. 😍 Yes, they definitely get more pliable when cooked on lower heat. But you can also stack them on a plate (or leave them for a bit in the skillet with a lid on), and they will soften because of the steam (if that makes sense). 💛 Ela

Thank you for your energetic presentation and wonderful suggestions to improve the flavor and texture of the tortillas. I recently purchased a Vitamix and can now grind my own chick peas into flour in the dry container. Such a cost savings.

You can roast the chickpea flour on low heat in a frying pan before using it. This way, the flour will loose its raw small and taste.

Glad I came across this.Ive been using chicken pea flour to make tortillas for a while but for whatever reason the tapioca starch made them better.More like an actual tortilla.I did use double the water though.Came out perfect.

Just made it. It tastes quite good. I added extra garlic powder and some basil. Defenitely looking forward to making these again! I made mine with 3/4 cup of water and it came out a bit thicker but the taste is good!

I made chickpea bread a year ago and seasoned the batter as well as three some sauteed onions and peppers and it was so good

I added a teaspoon of baking soda and, dash of onion powder and used cashew milk. They were a bit too tender. But they didn’t taste like chickpeas so I was happy. Thank you for a great inspiration to make my own.

I just tried these and they’re actually super good! They’re just a little chewy still so I need to figure out how to make them thinner and more crisp but they’re comparable in texture to corn tortillas.

Not tortilla but in India, we add less water and make a runny thick paste kinda thing and add whatever you want in it, i like to add ketchup and onions, and make small pancakes with them, they turn out very soft and tasty

I like the garlic powder because I use them to make thin pizza

Try roasting the chick pea flour in the oven, and flavor will improve drastically. To me the raw chick pea flour tastes like soap.
