Lifting a lot isn't powerlifting 🙄 it's just being strong.

For the first guy, if he isn't running a powerlifter gym, the barbells may not be rated for that level of weight. He was very respectful, so maybe he is concerned about equipment.

I was roommates with a nationally ranked heavyweight powerlifter, and he told me bar strength is the main reason he had his own. Because at 700lbs (what he squatted), you can't be sure a typical commercial bar with hold. Was kind of eye opening.

To clarify, I think the owner knew his gym equipment wasn't up to par, and I assume it's liability issues for people who do 500-600+ lifts. Maybe even a separate license for lifting that heavy.

First dude not only had a lot of weight on the bar, those reps were clean. Full of motion. Just embarrassing everyone at his gym. Shame. Was fun to watch. Great video

That last one is the very definition of why you shouldn’t poke the bear lol

to be fair the owner in the 1st clip is really respectful, even offered all his money back

If the last guy/kid spraying water on that big guy and they weren't together in an act, he should have been slapped into oblivion.

The first video should have never happened in the first place.
Whatever member signed that dude up with a membership should have CLEARLY stated that the gym equipment was made of the finest chinesium and can't handle over 200lbs of weight.
The owner seemed like a decent guy, very apologetic and offering his money back, it's just a shame he doesn't have anything in place to negate this from happening in the first place.

Have watched this several times over the years. "I'm not a powerlifting gym" gets me everytime 😂

I think the gym owner just had some law issues when someone got injured while powerlifting or something and therefore doesn't want to mess with it ever again.

When he states his gym isnt equipped for powerlifting, hes probably speaking about legal reasons. You guys need to understand death and very serious injuries can occur lifting 500+ pounds without spotters or the required safety equipment. Probably an insurance issue.

It's like getting kicked out of high school for getting a 4.0 gpa

The guy was actually real nice about this and wanted to refund his money. They should have him know before hand though. I can understand it, because powerlifting puts a lot of strain in the equipment aspecially if you go super heavy. I would say that this weight is still fine, but I undertand it.

The gym owner just doesn’t want to get sued. How many videos have we all seen where some guy is lifting way too much and injures themselves.

The last one got me mad at least let him finish his set

Gym owner was worried the strong guy was about to expose the weight limit on the equipment

Say what you want about the first one but the man is probably the most respectful gym owner you could come by.

He’s probably seen people lifting heavy weights and bars bending and breaking because of it, taking into consideration how much all that equipment costs I understand completely.
