Before College: "We can't let one entity own every part of production!"
After College: "The government should own every part of production!"

Concept really didn’t land in this video. Owning a piece of a lot of different industries isn’t a monopoly. A monopoly would be if they owned every streaming platform not just twitch.

If anti trust didn’t exist
Found On Road Dead would never beat General motets
It’s not like General Motors are any better
95 percent of their cars are still on the road today
Only 5% made it home

Except that the market corrects for monopolisation. Unless the monopoly is able to provide value long term, then it loses money and sells off its assets. It isn't a free market if the government is involved the way it is now.

Which is why places like Temu are growing so quickly. Az has lost everything that made it great. Your prime shipping now takes ten days.

This is a common misconception that has been disproven multiple times . Standard oil and ibm were examples of this, standard was broken up over this theory not because of high prices or bad service .

i could make similar arguments for why patents shouldn't be a thing.

Protecting competitors is different from protecting competition.
There has never been a monopoly (except for the government). And we’ve seen numerously behemoth companies fall from power with no help from bureaucratic interventions. Plus the costs accrued from antitrust cases are passed on to us, consumers.

So like that one business that does vision insurance, or the ones that own Ray-Ban? No technically a monopoly considering there is some competition, but still sketchy af. Ahh, the illusion of choice

I don't ser why people hate a free market with monopolies. In a true free market anyone can start their own company and distrupt that monopoly by offerinf a a better option. So once again government is the problem. Besides monopolies counter intuitivley ask for more regulation that smaller companies will have difficulty competing against. For example Jeff Bezos wants a 15 dollar per hour federal minimum wage.

Also Amazon is already internally structured to separate into half a dozen different companies because of union fears.

If Amazon warehouse workers unionize, they would just spin it off and let it die. Amazon Web Services makes all the money. Amazon retail gets all the hate

You don't understand the difference between owning a lot of companies in a lot of industries and owning a lot of companies in the same industry.

Literally none of the markets Amazon operates in do they having pricing power. They have 20% of the retail market which is still less than Walmart.
