What's up with the Mongoose Ardor Headset? Standard Sizing and Headset options - Risk dual headset

The Mongoose Ardor headset was covered on my KevReviews channel recently where I showed that it is an 55mm headset and not 56mm like the AL Comp/Boundary/Taff/Axum - and even the new Mongoose Ledge. However, I believe there is some confusion about the 55mm. It is a common size, yet many people are contacting me worried they won't be able to find a new headset. That's where this video comes in. I have been using the Risk / VGEBY Bicycle Bearing Headset on the Ardor. It works great and even offers more options as seen in this video. I hope this clarifies any confusion.

I just pulled mine. Put in a 44 up top, and the 55mm was swimming on the lower. Wouldn't seat. I measured the stock lower and it's 56mm. Back to Amazon I go.

Thats very cool ! It was smart on for Risk to include both the standard and tapered peices . So with this, you can easily convert to a tapered fork . Awesome!!
Thanx Kev

That's all well and good, but please take the protective foil off the Mongoose badge.

I just recently got my ardor and I had watched this video before buying my headset, which was very helpful, although after I took out my old headset cups and tried to install the new 55mm lower, it dropped in, i used my calipers and found that my ardor has a 56mm bottom, very weird but it’s something to note

Pretty soon you'll be test riding project bikes with camo just like the car companies do with their test vehicles! 😁
