I'm so bummed they ditched the black metal spoof!
The Portland black metal community is way more underground and prevalent than the goth thing. Which I guess is also a good reason for not going in that direction. I wouldn't want more scene kids dawning corpse paint or wearing more of my fav band t's.

The greatest thing Fred & Carrie has done with Portlandia is, though with tongue & cheek humor, they showcase characters from "Underground Sub-Cultures" in to the mainstream. Like Punks, Metalheads, Reggae-Ska, Hippies, Poets, etc...

A. You are aware that this photo shoot is a spoof right and
B. These people have been on the scene since the 90's so they did not jump on any media-based popculture bandwagons. The fact that you're probaly saying all of this about any Indie band or pro gay group is trite and and ironic.

Why aren't the costume people sourcing from thrift shops? It seems so silly to buy brand new boots when the thrift shop down the street has the same thing.

I really like that album. I don't know if you meant the song but yeah I'd check out Get Up, New Theory, Hold Out, It All Feels Right, Falling Back, All Over Now and Eyes Be Closed.

Not enough leather/discarded Lord of the Rings props for real black metal costumes.

Is there actual skit though? I don't recall seeing a black metal joke in any of the episodes. I so wanted to see their take on it!

Why did they not do a "goths in the woods" skit while they were out there? They had all the makeup on...and that's probably why we all clicked on this clip. Thank you SPIN for nothing! ;)
