Vulfpeck is an American funk group founded in 2011. The band has released four EPs, six albums, and a silent album on Spotify titled Sleepify, royalties from which funded Vulfpeck's admission-free tour in 2014. The band's most recent album, Vulf Vault 005: Wong's Cafe, was released in January 2022.
The band members attended University of Michigan's music school. They first came together for a recording session[a] at the Duderstadt Center, a university facility that houses an arts library and other resources.[1][2] After reading an interview with German producer Reinhold Mack, band founder Jack Stratton conceived of Vulfpeck as an imagined German version of the U.S. session musicians of the 1960s such as the Funk Brothers, the Wrecking Crew, and Muscle Shoals. The idea was to channel that era of the live rhythm section.[2][3][4]

The band's founding members are Jack Stratton on keyboards, drums and guitar, Theo Katzman on guitar, drums and vocals, Woody Goss on keyboards, and Joe Dart on bass.[3] Touring partners and frequent collaborators include Antwaun Stanley, Joey Dosik and Cory Wong.[5] Other contributing musicians include Charles Jones, Christine Hucal, David T. Walker, Bernard Purdie, James Gadson and Blake Mills.

Seeing Joe Dart getting called "that bass player" is kind of wholesome for me. One of the best and tightest bassists currently living. You should really dig him a little, won't regret it.

One of my best friends was at this show at MSG! Do yourself a favor and watch the whole show! They rotate many musicians in and out including Horns, Saxes, Singers. They trade instruments. The whole thing is shot in one camera take from onstage and the sound quality is great! Incredible show!

Next one you should check out is Dean Town (an homage to Teen Town by Weather Report) written by keyboardist Woody Goss with bass player Joe Dart taking the lead. Listen to more Vulfpeck, Joe Dart is a living god on bass. You should also check out Cory's solo work, he is probably the hardest working musician in the game riight now and putting out consiistent quality, we're talking multiple full albums per year amount of content, the man is a workhorse, not to mention he has part of Prince's old horn section and bassist.

YES! One of my favorite bands and favorite bass player at the moment. Definitely recommend their songs Beastly, My First car and Dean Town live. Those songs highlight Joe Dart the most, cheers!

So Cory Wong and Joe Dart also play with Snarky Puppy guitarist Mark Lettieri (who plays baritone guitar a lot in that lineup) along with drummer and absolute legend Nate Smith in a supergroup called the Fearless Flyers, who are one of the tightest and hottest funk bands in the world right now. Their music is hot and every player is a legend on top of his game.
