Per the interweb, "Oscar Sanchez died on Jan. 3. Officers were called to the area of Central Avenue, near 28th Street around 4:45 p.m. that day, after reports that a man had been throwing metal objects at cars. According to police, when one driver got out of their car, the suspect allegedly threatened them with a knife."
Per bodycam video, the officers gave him many chances to drop his weapon.

More shameless lawsuits from families who won’t take responsibility for their own neglect

We were not there and the media tells tales. Let law enforcement handle it. There's a $ train circling every incident these days.

A person, specially one having a mental episode, is extremely dangerous to themselves and those around them. Brandishing a weapon of sort, while in that condition and out on the street, makes them a ticking time bomb. Cops are not social workers.

Please Sue His Family For not Helping him

Mental health issues do not excuse that he wanted to attack the police 1st. Police do have a right to defend themselves when someone approaches them with any kind of weapon.

Then he shouldn’t have been allowed to be amongst the public!! When your family member is that sick, you HELP them while they’re alive, you don’t sue once they’re dead. Of course they see $$$$!

I'm all for getting rid of qualified immunity and making it easier to get bad cops off the force. But, I think families need to be held responsible for legal fees and damages caused by their relatives if their lawsuits against cops fail.

The cops are always to be blamed for their action. Imagine someone like this model citizen throws metal objects at your car. You then call the police instead of showing an understanding for the actions of this individual . The cops show up instead of ignoring your call and try to talk to the gentleman throwing objects and a holding a knife. Instead of letting him go so that he can hurt someone or is able to damage more cars the bad poluce tries to stop him from doing more harm... And some of you post that the cops need to be held accountable for trying their actions. The same people who post this would have steamed for the police if it had been their car.

I don’t know why people bring up “mental health” as if it’s some sort of good excuse. If anything, the penalties to someone having a “mental health crisis” should be MORE severe, not less. Someone brandishing a weapon, but who is sane, may still be reasoned with. An insane person needs to be put down quickIy, like rabid dog, and forgotten. All responsibility is on the family who wasn’t supervising him.

People with mental health issues can still kill someone. They are the most dangerous person a cop can encounter. It's tragic that he was killed, but it was justified.

You want answers?
Here is your answer:
Homeboy pulled a knife on police officers. They defended themselves.
Any more questions?

Well, one thing is for sure:
He will NEVER pull a knife on police officers again! EVER!

Adults with Mental health issues is a family’s worst nightmare. Because family cannot always be their to save them. Maybe he was of his medication? I cannot blame the police entirely. Many cases we have seen people with deadly objects ready to attack police officers. My strong advice, if you know the person with mental health problems. Please intervene if you can. Don’t call the police! They don’t know the person and even with training. Everyone reacts differently. Stay safe everyone

Mental episode is a good one. Everything but not taking responsibility for your wrongdoing

People call medical transport and not police OFFICERS

Here in Kali, we live in a pro criminal paradise. My advice is never attack an armed person, whether regular citizens or cops. Call those social workers, DOJ or your pro criminal politicians, when your family member in crisis
