NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Capitol 4763) Composed by Larry Kolber and Jack Keller, 'I Gotta Be Sure' is the flipside to the Dave Burgess composition, Tellin' Myself' which is the last of only four singles issued by 12 year old Robin Clark on the Capitol label.
Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on September 21, 1949 as Sharon Ilo Hershiser, by the age of three while studying with choreographer Gene Nash, she would appear on television as a dancer. She had no formal experience as a singer however in a 1961 interview, she stated that she had been singing since the age of four. Gene Nash recommended her to singer, Eddy Arnold who referred her to his manager who was impressed enough to sign her to a recording contract, changing her professional name to Robin Clark. The first record out of the chute, 'Daddy, Daddy (Gotta Get A Phone In My Room)' made a buzz in various markets around the country and provided a busy schedule of television and live appearances to promote the record. The second and third singles also stirred up interest throughout the country but failed to chart nationally. The last single did not chart either but was Robin's best work and oddly, the stronger of the two sides was hidden as the B-side. 'I Gotta Be Sure' is as slick as can be and is an excellent example of the early 1960's metropolitan Nashville sound that Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee and Skeeter Davis were having hit after hit with. After Robin's swan song disc came and went, so did she. Off to finish school where she graduated high school in 1967 and continued on as an honor student at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville and then University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she graduated in 1972. She married in 1973 and had three children.

I’ve never heard this one. It will slip into my Classic Country playlist quite comfortably though. Another banger Anthony ❤️

It's nice they let her clear vocals be number one. The whole number would make a nice easy listening disc. They gave her excellent musicians, arrangment, sweeten it with the Anita Kerr Singers, you couldn't go wrong. Thanks for sharing.
