Vadim Shishimarin, a 21-year-old Russian tank commander has pleaded guilty to killing an unarmed civilian, in the first war crimes trial in Ukraine since the conflict.

He admitted shooting a 62-year-old man in the northeast Ukrainian village of Chupakhivka on Feb. 28.

If convicted, he faces up to life imprisonment.

Prosecutors said Shishimarin and four other soldiers driving their stolen car encountered the 62-year-old on a bicycle, and talking on his phone.

Then Shishimarin was ordered to kill the man to prevent him reporting on the Russians' presence.

The victim died on the spot after being shot at head.

Russia has denied targeting civilians or involvement in war crimes and accused Kyiv of staging them to smear its forces.

But investigators have been collecting evidence of possible war crimes to bring before the Int’l Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

The ICC is sending a team of 42 investigators, forensics experts and support staff to Ukraine.

Russian soldier who is on trial in Kyiv? There are strong suspicions that he is ready to admit anything in order not to end up in an unmarked grave. Unless of course it's not another fake.

Didn't zellinski give out AK 47s and rocket launchers to everyone in Ukraine...just saying that the Ukraine government made everyone a combatants of war. This charge is not justified.

Bad move by Ukraine. Clearly media service is more important to Ukraine than the future of thousands of Ukrainian troops in Russian hands. This just ruined any chance of mercy for them.

You can't rule out that he said these words because his life was at stake. This is in line with the American approach

If anyone will look carefully; you all will see the policeman in caps with their head down in shame & guilt. It’s good they showed the faces of the judges and the people present here; now Russia 🇷🇺 knows who they are

Win in spinning war news is more important for Zelensky than winning the actual war on the ground.

By this trial Ukraine authorities of all sorts prove that they are not capable of conducting anything, they simply are immature. Those questions asked to a 21-year-old teenager who was doing the task he was supposed to do in a hostile environment, with the widow sat in front of him, are pathetic. In another country supporting Ukraine, a boy of almost the same age shot down people, not in a hostile environment, will plead non guilty and be released. I'm not opposed to trials so far they are conducted fairly, objectively according to the laws and the context(I don't mind the so-called "international laws" which are only applied on some not to others). For this I what ICJ is doing here, while it has yet convicted the USA and NATO soldiers over Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Palestine, just to name a few, for all the civilians massacres they did there. Be careful Ukraine, you might pay for this more than you can think

So, I guess
1. Those azov guys would also face trial and would pleas guilty.
2. No icc would be sent by russia's request.
3. Icc would confirm russia's fault in bucha.

Thank you, ShanghaiEye for downloading of Video. .It is sad to see a young Russia's soldiers being bought to ukraine's court for the murder of a 60 plus years old civilians. .Where is the Justice of the Ukraine's soldier killing Russia's surrendered soldiers, whose head being cut off ..bloods flowing by their bodies . .Ukraine's soldiers shooting at the both kneecap of most Surrendered Russia's Soldiers that left them, handicapped for the rest of their life. ....Eastern ukraine's civilians being murder since 2013 ..Did the Ukrain's government punish these people. .Why does the world stand on Ukraine side and not the Russia? I am waiting to see what the western going to say about the ukraine's biolabs. .what the things Zelenskyy did by leasing the prisoners to make up of the lack of Ukraine 's Soldiers. This very clips goes to show what us what is know as justice on the Ukraine and Westerner. .

When everyone in the room is against you, what will you do? Those that said 'no' are dead. They are not good material for propaganda.

He pleads guilty to killing a person by order after he reported an old man in a war zone having a conversation on a mobile phone that might review his position. So is the old man calling his wife or the Ukraine police/army that he notice Russian soldiers? At the same time, Russia had just begun a war crime investigation on Azov soldiers who surrendered from the steel plant in Russia. Meanwhile injured Ukraine soldiers were reported at Olenvika, Donbas (Ukraine) near to battlefront line. I assume these soldiers are for POWs exchange.
