Different Types of Editors

Today we’re talking all about the professional edit! Everyone’s favorite part of the writing process…or not. Editing a manuscript is tricky–you have to enlist beta readers, know how to self edit your book, and find the perfect editor for your story. On top of that, there’s a gazillion editors to choose from! So, I’m listing the most common types of book edits and assessments, and what you can expect from them. This will include explaining what a critique or assessment is, why a developmental (content) edit is so important, what line edits are for, what copy edits do, and more! So if you’ve been wondering what type of book editing you need, don’t understand the different types of professional edits available, or want to know if you should have your book professionally edited at all, this video might just be for you! Something I've learned is don't hire an editor from a different country than you are from. For me I hired an editor from the US and he does not get any of my humour and called me 'too British.'

I don’t technically hate the editing process, in fact I love it. But once the professional editors read your story, I basically want to just curl into a corner and cry (I’m extremely self-conscious). However once I recover (somewhat) I’m swallow my pride and remember my story will be better because of this.

I really like your content, but unfortunately the audio quality seriously hurt my ears in the louder parts. This can be easily fixed by turning the input gain slightly down and also using compression, which basically makes louder sounds a little bit softer so they don't get distorted while keeping the rest of the audio at the same volume.
