Cartoon Network Almost Had This WILD Crossover Series

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy ALMOST had a Cartoon Network crossover. We found this out from Foster's home creator Craig McCracken, who revealed the news on Twitter. Could Fred Fredburger and Cheese work well together?

Craig McCracken was no stranger to the era of classic Cartoon Network, whether it be with The Powerpuff Girls or Foster's Home. He knew what worked around this time period, and he almost ended up making a third show in the same era: Fred Fredburger and Cheese interacting with each other. With Cartoon Network interested in making this real, why didn't it happen? Is it a good thing we never saw this?

I don't think the universe was ready for that duo

Honestly, we need more CN crossovers because of how awesome they can always be. Seeing two shows together in one episode is always so funny and exciting to see. This crossover should’ve happened!

I remember that when Mandy made an appearance.

This crossover is such an missed opportunity..

I remember when these two were pretty much Cartoon Network's co-mascots. They were funny in moderation, but making them the stars of their own series probably would've been a disaster. Just look at what happened with Planet Sheen.

That would've been interesting.
I can just imagine the theme being nothing but Fred saying his name over and over while Cheese keeps saying "I like games and chocolate milk!"

Such a crossover does sound like it would've been interesting, but since it was sadly not to be i guess fanfictions and what not are the next best thing.

This isn't the first time something like this nearly happened.
Mandy (from The Grim Adventures of Billy Mandy) made a cameo appearance in one of the episode of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
Not to mention both Mandy and Frankie Foster were voiced by Grey Delisle Griffin herself!

UPDATE: 2:00, I just mentioned it afew minutes ago!!

They DID have this crossover in the MMORPG "Fusionfall". I must be the only one who remembers this.

Cheese and Fred are too pure.

They're like more exaggerated versions of my little brother and I when we were kids.

i remember this being a big thing for a while, if they did ever do a series with them, id imagine somthing along the lines of mini series, like what they did with Big Baby.

Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends and Billy and Mandy would be TRULY the most ambitious crossover of all time

I remember that episode from Foster's Home for Imaginary friends. That crossover idea would've been weird yet interesting 🤔

I would've loved this as a kid, but I can't imagine it as a full series. Maybe as a one-off

Honestly, I had a feeling that the two shows were connected in some way, but I never really thought about a crossover *SERIES*

Sounds interesting, but to do something like a show, would honestly make the characters get old and there would be questions like, ”how were they able to cross universes and meet?” or something like that, but it wouldn’t really work well in my opinion, but I do love the old Cartoon Network feel. If it aired back then with everyone still young enough to still enjoy the shows, then it may be possible for that show to almost work. So I’m all it has almost no chance of actually being successful.
