Reviewing the New Rado Captain Cook Watch Collection

In 1962, Rado decided he deserved a watch named after him; it was their foray into the diving watch craze at the time. However, production sadly stopped in 1968.

Then, 55 years later, in 2017, Rado shocked everyone with a surprise reissue and they’ve gradually been adding various models to the popular collection through the years since.

WatchShop has just recently started stocking Rado, so we thought it would be great to introduce you all to some iterations of the Captain Cook.

I am currently on a quest to hit 100 countries, which I will achieve on Dec. 28th, 2022 in Santiago, Chile. After that, I am buying a Cptain Cook watch, which I have had my eye on since 2020 in the height of the Pandemic. Recently, while on a layover in Dubai, a watch kiosk in Dubai Mall showed me the ceramic collection and I absolutely loved it! GORGEOUS!! I will buy the watch from a particular salesman there when I complete my goal. Captain Cook has always been a hero of mine and I will honour his and my travel accomplishments by buying the watch made in his honour in 2023!

I think the line looks great, but the the lower-grade 2824 is really disappointing at the price, especially given that its same-tier Swatch sibling Longines packs its divers with a heavily customised, high grade 2892 at similar (Legend/Heritage divers) or even lower (Hydroconquest) price points.

Rado gets the same movement as Tissots and Hamiltons which are a 1/3 the price of the captain cook.
