When Doctor Who's continuity is on point: Don't forget me

Now that's what I call continuity. Across two iterations of the show, two spinoffs, and more than 30 years, a single plot thread carries on like no time has passed at all

I love the unintentional foreshadowing at the end of The Hand of Fear, with the dog and Sarah Jane whistling "Daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow", and the Doctor later sending her K9. They couldn't have planned that any better.

"My Sarah Jane!"

Makes me cry every single time.

I love that she wanted a goodbye. She didn't want to be left thinking that she *might* see him again like he did the first time.

"No one's ever gonna forget you."

Then The Doctor remembers Donna Noble.

As someone who was born in raised in Aberdeen I can confirm that it would be a piss take to be stranded there, even for half an hour it would suck, and I’ve lived here 20 years so far

For those who don't know (I certainly didn't), Aberdeen is over 400 miles away from Croydon. They're basically at opposite ends of the Island of Great Britian.

As someone who's never watched a full episode of classic Who, I really love the lack of music in that goodbye. It felt more real and relatable. I've said goodbye to a lot of people that I haven't seen again (with hopes to even if it's no longer possible) and it feels just like that. No music, no fanfare. Just parting words and then the ambiance of wherever you are.

bonus that is NEVER mentioned:When Ten meets Sarah Jane in School Reunion she says "You've Regenerated" and he says "Half a dozen times since we last met" so 6 times. What no one ever mentions is that this was originally a mistake. You don't always catch it as you think oh 4th doctor to 10th doctor, 6 regenerations.HOWEVER! In "The Five Doctors" Sarah Jane meets the 5th doctor, played by Peter Davison. With the addition of the War Doctor, this makes Sarah Jane the only person the Doctor never lied to about how many times he had regenerated. It's a mistake turned long-term easter egg, and it really holds that Continuity together.

It's heartbreaking both in-world and in the real world when the Tenth Doctor sees Sarah for the last time in the End of Time. The last ever appearance for probably the most iconic Doctor Who companion ever...

Oh my god, the way she giggles and says "he blew it..." is so wonderful

I love how Sarah-Jane was never mad at the doctor for leaving her, yes she was a little sad, but you can see she held no animosity towards him, I really like that it cuz it shows how close they became

I love that Sarah/Elisabeth became just as beloved in New Who. Credit for RTD for bringing her back.
