The price per carat varies widely depending on quality of the stone. Your average alexandrite stone is around $2000 a carat . But rare specimens like this stone will go for $50k to $100k per carat.

Alexandrite is a natural prism. That means as light shows through it at different angles it will color shift. The more color shift it has the higher the quality.

Unlike diamonds, Alexandrite is nearly impossible to duplicate artificially.
