The Colonel and I got our start together on the Popularity Showboat and the Oldtown Tavern in Paducah, KY. It's good to see he's still wacky as ever. Huge influence in my music. One time we were playing San Franscisco Bay Blues and I said to him, "Man, it would be cool if we had a kazoo on this tune." Before I knew it, the good Colonel whipped out his trusty comb and a piece of paper, and WAHLA! He made a kazoo, and made my wish come true. It was at that time I realized this guy can turn chicken shit into chicken salad. PURE MAGIC!

I saw these guys last night with the Reverend. I been playing harmonica since 95 . I have a million harp guys on CD etc. I have to say this here boy can blow ! He was doing shit to the harp I never even heard before . He was blowin' his ass off . It really was incredible !

Saw them perform once. They were amazing!! Love this kind of music! Would have been great to see more of Mark Robertson in this video. Best all time upright bass player!

You just have to see them to believe how damn good these guys are. I went to reverend Horton Heat and these guys opened up for them and I was blown away. If they would come back to California I would see them over and over again.

Seen them many times in the U.K. Several different line ups, but they always deliver. One of my favourite live bands. J.D. has got it.

The microphone is a "green bullet", also known as a green egg. I have one, which I hook up to a bass amp. Initially a PA mic (used on public address systems) it was pretty quickly adopted by blues artists because it was cheap, omnipresent, and sounded awesome. Now they're a collectible item and fairly pricey.
