Gestitos Dolls were popular in the mid-1990s of the 20th century. The center of production of these dolls was the province of Alicante, Onil. They were produced by the Ferre Fuster factory under the trademark JOYMI. There was an exciting demand for them for three years (1994-1996). Similar dolls began to be produced also in England, Germany and, of course, in China. But someone decided to discontinue this business, and persecution of their manufacturers began.
In early December 1996, the Spanish Association for the Protection of Children's Rights (PRODENI) attacked them - demanded to confiscate a figure of a boy with a fingal under his eye, a bump on his forehead and a tied hand, motivating their demand that the dolls promote domestic violence. The scandal blew up the newspapers and psychologists of the Toy Institute spoke out against the release of dolls.
On the day before Christmas, according to the court ruling, not only boys with fingal, but also all other dolls of this kind, dozens of factories (Nines, Falca, Arias, Danton, etc.) were confiscated from all stores. п. ), their producers, urgently turned down their production. Survived dolls went to private collections.
Among the people, the nickname Gestitos (little curves) was ensnared behind them.
The sizes of the dolls are from 17 to 70 cm, they are of different races, genders and ages. The doll's facial expressions convey a whole range of feelings - joy, sadness, resentment, anger, surprise, fear and more. The doll's faces are very specific and resemble fairytale characters from the animated series - dwarfs and hobbits. Some dolls can cry, talk, call mom, and even imitate sucking a nipple.
