The ultimate guide to the cranial nerves, obviously starts with cranial nerve I. The olfactory nerve is your sense of smell, over this series of videos I'll be covering what most people have asked for, additional information on

- The normal function of each cranial nerve
- How / why any special tests are performed
- crucially what is being looked at during each step of the examination.

*******
For other cranial nerve examination explanation videos please look here:

Cranial Nerve Examination Demonstration:

Cranial Nerve I - Olfactory Nerve:

Cranial Nerve II - Optic Nerve

Cranial Nerves III, IV & VI

Cranial Nerve V - Trigeminal Nerve

Cranial Nerve VII - The Facial Nerve

Cranial Nerve VIII - The Vestibulocochlear Nerve

Cranial Nerve IX & X - Glossopharyngeal & Vagus Nerve

Cranial Nerve XI & XII - Accessory & Hypoglossal Nerve

I'm hoping to have this whole series finished this week - it was previously going to be delivered as a single video, but I think it would be more useful for people to be able to jump in and out to the various nerves they are wanting extra information on

Keep dropping the comments, and I'm really grateful for all the improvements people are suggesting, which is helping this channel to evolve - THANK YOU

Your voice is so perfect for ASMR, but I actually learn something (having little medical understanding) in these videos too. Very interesting. Thank you for all you do.

This is so enlightening! I’m taking psycophysics currently and this is a big help and alternative to reading the textbook

Eventhough I’m not attending medical school (I study psychology), I find your videos super educative and useful. Also the fact that you make it easy to understand it, you’re not using a high academic language, just keeping it simple and accurate.
Finally, the amount of hard-work you put into each videos is terrific. Thank you so much.

P.s.: also love it that you really do care about your viewers’ opinion.

I actually started following you because your voice is very relaxing but now I'm learning lots of new things from your videos and I'm not even English! (I'm Italian)

You’re really good dude. They should get rid of David Attenborough and hire you to narrate the Planet Earth series

Maybe do a video on the ear, to help educate people how sensitive and delicate the 3 parts are: outer, middle,

This educative video is so fun and easy to understand. Best one I've found so far on YT. The way you describe all these medical terms is exceptionally brilliant. Thank you Dr Gill, I hope there are more of these to come 🙌

As someone who has permanent conditions affecting smell and breathing this video gave me an alternative viewpoint to what could be amplifying my issues. If it comes up in my next appointment I may briefly mention this video if it's appropriate to do so to another doctor. So thanks for the insight and as someone who has major optic issues I'm looking forward to part 2.

This is so good! As a consumer of ASMR content for a long time I've seen probably hundreds of CNEs and now I can have some further understanding of the exam. I'm a nerd so this is right in my wheelhouse.
