Just when I thought nobody could come close to Matt Amodio, we've already had four 5+ games winners, and two 10+, the latest already surpassing Matt Amodio in terms of statistics!! The next ToC is going to be WILD.

It made no difference in terms of placement, but technically, Sinnott's response of "Gen. Custer" was incorrect as he had been returned to the rank of lieutenant colonel shortly after the Civil War and remained so until his death.

"Journalism is more important than ever?"
Stick to answering trivia questions, Ken.

Btw, Mark Kellogg was likely the last burial on the battlefield, as his body wasn’t discovered until perhaps as late as June 29th (though likely June 28th), by Colonel John Gibbon. He was found some distance northwest of Custer Hill, near the river and was possibly killed as Companies E and F returned from heading for the river a second time. Kellogg had his horse give out earlier in the campaign, and secured a mule to ride from that point. The day is the battle, he borrowed spurs from Fred Gerard, who reluctantly gave them to the reporter after initially trying to convince him to stick to the rear. Kellogg insisted on going where Custer went, and wanted spurs to urge his mule along. It’s supposed by many that the reason he was found there was due to his being mounted on that mule, though it’s just as likely it was bad luck to have been hit on Custer’s move north as it was due to lagging behind on that sortie.

One might think the reporter was unarmed, but he was not. Kellogg was said to have carried a Spencer carbine, a bit obsolete but perhaps typical of a civilian, and that he was a pretty good shot.

Kellogg was discovered scalped but otherwise not mutilated, owing to his death site being a solitary one, away from the major fighting. Initially it was not known who he was, but he was in civilian garb and while they were searched for a name, one of the uniquely modified boots he wore was taken into camp. It was reinforced with a strap on the instep, and another officer recognized that it was Kellogg’s footwear. The “burials” had already been completed (as much as they would be in 1876) on the battlefield, so what treatment Kellogg’s body received marks his remains as the last thus interred.

Today his marker is nowhere near where he was found.

"By the time this reaches you we would have met and fought the red devils, with what result remains to be seen. I go with Custer and will be at the death." --Mark Kellogg's last dispatch, June 21, 1876

Wow! The wage! That lady's got a lot of balls. (Sorry about the bad joke. Is it in bad taste?)

They need to make Ken Jennings the permanent host. I like Mayim but she should do the prime time specials as intended.

Ken Jennings is a Great Host and Way To Go Amy Schneider with a lot of money

When I saw the category I thought “I bet it’s an answer about Mark Kellogg.”

Ken Jennings knows an awful lot. There's a big difference between Calvary, which is where Jesus died, and the CAValry.. which were troops mounted on Horseback. Which is what Custer was.

Question: Why did the first lady bet any money? She wasn't going to get it right, so why not put $0 as a bet?

All I could think of in North Dakota was Mt Rushmore, and new that date was too early.( Or is that in South Dakota?) Ever since "Little Big Man" I've cheered for the Indian tribes at Little Bighorn.

Ken has a cheesy vibe to him but it works for a show that highlights intelligence and memory. Trebek was a bit cheesy with his humor so it fits.

Instantly said Custer. The year gave it away for me.

So glad to see Amy Schneider make history as the 5th winningest Jeopardy champion ever! At this rate she has a very good possibility of beating at least Matt Amodio's record. Can't wait to see what happens!

Amy is classy and dignified when Ken is sharing her various statistics after the Final Jeopardy round. That is how everyone should behave. She's a fine example of good manners, and being humble.
